We are delighted to announce the promotion of Anthony Shepherd to the newly created role of Group Groundcare Sales Manager, effective immediately.
Anthony takes on this important leadership position following a successful progression through several key roles within Turney Group. Since joining the business in 2019, he has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to customer service, business development and team growth, making him a natural choice to help lead our Professional Groundcare Division into its next phase of development.
Operating across our regional groundcare depots and from Group Head Office, Anthony will be responsible for supporting and developing our groundcare sales teams while maintaining a strategic focus on business development and key account management. The role has been created to further strengthen collaboration across our branches, enhance manufacturer relationships and ensure we continue to deliver exceptional service and expertise to customers throughout the sectors we serve.
As Group Groundcare Sales Manager, Anthony will oversee the implementation of sales strategies across the division, support and mentor area sales managers, manage relationships with leading manufacturers and suppliers, and continue to play a key role in securing new business opportunities and managing major customer accounts. His extensive experience within the business, combined with his knowledge of the professional groundcare sector, places him in an excellent position to help drive future growth.
To mark Anthony’s promotion, we caught up with him to learn more about his journey with Turney Group, his new role and what motivates him both inside and outside of work.
About me:
I’ve been working for Turney Group since 2019 and started as an Area Salesman for Northamptonshire before progressing to cover Central Oxford following a retirement within the team.
I then moved into the role of Sales Manager and Depot Manager at Weston on the Green before later taking on the position of Business Development Manager.
In my new role, I will be working across our groundcare depots to help mentor and manage the groundcare sales team, whilst maintaining the business development and key account aspects of the role.
What part of your work do you enjoy the most?
The most enjoyable part of the role is seeing the sales managers grow and develop their areas. I still get a real buzz from hearing about the new customers they have brought on board and the sales they have achieved.
What advice would you give to others looking to grow their careers?
I would advise anyone looking to grow their career within the company to always think outside the box and challenge yourself daily.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my growing family and dog, as well as supporting my local football team.
